This video is keen evidence of the highly aware youth we have on our planet.

Seeing this beautiful 8 year old sharing his knowledge brings me hope of a brighter future for Mother Earth.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Twist

For this weeks Weekly Photo Challenge, we are to share a photo of something that says “twist” to you. It might be that perfect ice cream cone, a yummy bit of liquorice, or something unexpected that surprised, shocked, or startled you.

The San Francisco – Oakland Bay Bridge connects San Francisco and Oakland, California, but you probably knew that already. 🙂

After years of designing, planning & construction, the new East Span of the bridge connecting Yerba Buena Island and Oakland was completed in September 2013.

These photos were taken a few days after the new East Span was completed.

The navigation display in the car shows we are riding in the water, yet you can clearly see in the picture we are on the road.

I assumed the satellites and/or GoogleEarth had not yet caught up with the completion of the East Span of the bridge.

I thought it was kind of cool (and a bit funny and unexpected) that even though we were driving in one of the most advanced vehicles on the road (Tesla Model S) across one of the most technologically advance bridges in the US, with advanced satellites in space constantly monitoring Earth to the point that it knows exactly where we are on Earth, the navigation system still shows us cruising along in the water.  🙂

Admittedly, I did feel a bit like I was in some sort of time traveling warp for a moment.

Here is a bonus picture of the old and the new Bay Bridge side by side.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my Weekly Photo Challenge!

Camping / Hiking at Big Basin Redwoods State Park

The Redwoods call me.  They beckon me from deep within the Santa Cruz mountains.

Resisting their call is next to impossible, so I plan … and I go to them.  They always welcome me ‘Home’.

My favorite place to commune with them is Big Basin Redwoods State Park in Northern California, about half-way between San Jose and Santa Cruz, near Boulder Creek.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Treasure, Meet The Sidneys

In this week’s Photo Challenge, we are to post something that we treasure, something that is most important to us …..

Meet The Sidneys, my most treasured items.  The brown bear on the left is Sid2, short for Sidney the II.  He is a replacement bear for the original Sidney, the white bear on the right. The original Sidney was given to me by my first husband for my 18th birthday.

The Sidneys

I have slept with the original Sidney every night for about 24 years, repairing him all along as he started falling apart.   Continue reading

Daily Prompt: World’s Best Widget

Daily Prompt:  World’s Best Widget

You’ve been granted magical engineering skills, but you can only use them to build one gadget or machine. What do you build?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us MACHINES.

Given magical engineering skills, the one machine I would build would be a Divine Mirror.

This Divine Mirror would accurately reflect each subjects true divinity, revealing to them their amazing power, beauty and light.  As they gaze into this magical mirror, all their fears would melt away.  The self criticisms and self doubt that rob Joy of taking root in their hearts would instantly vanish.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Selfie

Weekly Photo Challenge:  Selfie

For this challenge, snap a selfie with your cameraphone or camera.  A selfie doesn’t have to be all about you; it can reveal much more, given the elements you choose to include.

Life is GoodThe above selfie was taken during a trip my boyfriend and I took in June of 2013 to Cambria, California and Hearst Castle.  It was a wonderful 2 night trip and our hotel was directly across the street from the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Continue reading
