Photo Challenge: Ephemeral

Ephemeral:
adjective
1. Lasting for a very short time.

Show us what ephemeral means to you. It could be a dry leaf floating on an errant breeze, the sleep-floppy smile of your waking three-year-old, or the cake that turned out just right before the hungry hordes descend on it.

One day (on 12/12/14) while returning from a late afternoon walk around the neighborhood I witnessed this majestically beautiful rainbow right over my home ❤  I froze in my tracks and could only look up in wonder, completely lost in this beautiful gift of the Present moment.  My heart was instantly filled with ineffable Peace to see such a timely reminder from my Angels that All Is Well. ❤

Weekly Photo Challenge: Split-Second Story

Image

For this week’s challenge, we want you to become a documentary photographer and attempt to capture a candid moment of a person, place, or thing. Put your National Geographic hat on and tell a story by documenting a moment in time through a single image. Capture the thrill of a skate park, or the calmness of a café patio. Let your imagination inspire and guide you!

La Jolla SunsetSun sets over Pacific Ocean in La Jolla, California.  Bird celebrates.  Human celebrates.  I celebrate.  Sky and Clouds celebrate with their Royal Dance of Colors across the heavens announcing the nearing departure of Sun.  Ocean sparkles and glistens reflecting the majesty of All.  Day moves into Night.  And All Is Well.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Twist

For this weeks Weekly Photo Challenge, we are to share a photo of something that says “twist” to you. It might be that perfect ice cream cone, a yummy bit of liquorice, or something unexpected that surprised, shocked, or startled you.

The San Francisco – Oakland Bay Bridge connects San Francisco and Oakland, California, but you probably knew that already. 🙂

After years of designing, planning & construction, the new East Span of the bridge connecting Yerba Buena Island and Oakland was completed in September 2013.

These photos were taken a few days after the new East Span was completed.

The navigation display in the car shows we are riding in the water, yet you can clearly see in the picture we are on the road.

I assumed the satellites and/or GoogleEarth had not yet caught up with the completion of the East Span of the bridge.

I thought it was kind of cool (and a bit funny and unexpected) that even though we were driving in one of the most advanced vehicles on the road (Tesla Model S) across one of the most technologically advance bridges in the US, with advanced satellites in space constantly monitoring Earth to the point that it knows exactly where we are on Earth, the navigation system still shows us cruising along in the water.  🙂

Admittedly, I did feel a bit like I was in some sort of time traveling warp for a moment.

Here is a bonus picture of the old and the new Bay Bridge side by side.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my Weekly Photo Challenge!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Treasure, Meet The Sidneys

In this week’s Photo Challenge, we are to post something that we treasure, something that is most important to us …..

Meet The Sidneys, my most treasured items.  The brown bear on the left is Sid2, short for Sidney the II.  He is a replacement bear for the original Sidney, the white bear on the right. The original Sidney was given to me by my first husband for my 18th birthday.

The Sidneys

I have slept with the original Sidney every night for about 24 years, repairing him all along as he started falling apart.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge:  Selfie

For this challenge, snap a selfie with your cameraphone or camera.  A selfie doesn’t have to be all about you; it can reveal much more, given the elements you choose to include.

Life is GoodThe above selfie was taken during a trip my boyfriend and I took in June of 2013 to Cambria, California and Hearst Castle.  It was a wonderful 2 night trip and our hotel was directly across the street from the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: One ~ Snail

Image

Weekly Photo Challenge:  One
(This week, we want to see photos that focus on one thing.)

So there’s this snail ….. and It visited me one morning while I was meditating underneath the lemon tree.  I didn’t see It until after I had opened my eyes.  Under the influence of my meditation, Snail and I bonded.  We were One.

Snail

In the One Moment, I felt the cold sidewalk underneath my snail belly and it felt good.  I felt the morning dew penetrating through my strong but delicate snail shell body and it felt good.  I smiled my little snail smile as I looked up at this human version of my snail self and it felt good. The Lovers Trees
somewhere along the Saratoga Gap Trail in Northern California

Lovers Trees

While hiking Saratoga Gap trail in Saratoga, California one afternoon, I came upon these stunning trees.  They halted me in my tracks as though I had accidentally snuck upon two Lovers making out in the forest.  Of course, my Lover and I felt it would be disrespectful to the Lovers Trees if we didn’t pause during our hike and make out a little too. 😉  Mother Nature has so much to teach us, if only we will listen……
